a series of revolutions
Created by Kendra Fanconi
Consider Thoreau, Hunterwasser, Captain Paul Watson, Ted Kazinski, Weibo Ludwig and that guy who blew up pipelines but was never caught. Cranks. A crank is a creator of radical thought. With personal solutions for global problems.
E.F. Schumacher says, "“A crank is a very elegant device. It’s small, its strong, its lightweight, energy efficient and it makes revolutions.”
An audience-activated show for one person of extreme duration, CRANK is designed to wind you up. We are inspired by the story of the development conference delegates who were warned that you must ‘make your own bed’, and then in their rooms found a pile of lumber and hardware. CRANK asks you to act: creating natural interventions and manifestos defining how to live in radical relationship with wilderness. It is an invitation to take on deep questions of what we believe in. To become one in a series of revolutions.
CRANK is an antidote to the age of overwhelm. It’s a place make something out of our difficult experience as Anthropocene denizens.
