Call for Associate Artist-Producer

Letter of Application Due: May 15

The Only Animal is seeking an emerging artist* for a part-time paid internship. Starting in January of 2016 this year-long position would include creative, administrative, and producing opportunities. Please see below.

Administrative & Producing duties include:

Associate Producing for Tinkers

Marketing and Communications: Social Media Maven

Assist with Fundraising Initiatives

Assist with Company Administration

Other Tasks as Mutually Agreed

Creative opportunities include:

Acting role in the production of Tinkers in July of 2016.

Assistant Directing The City & The City in Fall of 2016.

Participation in R&D for various projects

Time at Joe Creek Retreat to write or develop the artist's individual project. Further development support from The Only Animal is a possibility.

The Only Animal has worked with intern and mentees in yearly cycles in our creative and producing work since 2007. The artist-administrators who undertake these roles have sometimes become integrated into our company in paid creative and/or producing roles.

The individual we are seeking must be an emerging artist* who has some producing experience, a unique creative voice, excellent attitude and willingness to work with a team. A strong work ethic and impeccability, and an affinity for ambitious site-based and/or immersive theatre. You are an artist who will lead your own company, or is driven to create and produce your own work, and would benefit from the knowledge/experience of working with The Only Animal. We encourage women and artists of diverse backgrounds to apply.

The successful candidate will apply with The Only Animal for the Early Career Development grant through BC Arts Council due June 15, 2015 with a decision in approximately 3 months. Position is dependent on funding.

*To be eligible for BC Arts Council Early Career Development program emerging artist is defined as under 30 years old or have completed basic training in their discipline within the last 5 years.
